Living victoriously in the eyes of God isnโt necessarily about amassing wealth and fancy stuff, although it could include such things, I suppose. Itโs not the primary focus though. I tend to believe that living successfully is about fulfilling the call of God on your life. Regardless of how big or small the world may think our personal calling is, if it is God calling us to something, itโs a big deal to Him.
Recently, I decided I needed declarations that I could ingrain into my mind so that I could live the very fullest life that God intended me to. I tend to overthink or even dwell on negative parts of myself. I realized I needed a more uplifting thought pattern. There are countless books on how to be successful, but I wanted scriptural references that I could repeat and meditate on throughout each day.
So, I decided to focus my attention on the book of Joshua from the Bible. Joshua was a faithful leader, obedient to God despite the circumstance. Joshua was obviously a stand-out human because, goodness gracious, God even prolonged the sunshine for Joshua one day because he needed more light to win a battle!
The following 14 declaration statements are inspired from the book of Joshua:
1. The Lord will never leave me nor forsake me. (See Joshua 1:5)
2. I will be strong and very courageous. (See Joshua 1:7a)
3. I will be obedient to the Lord in all I do and serve only Him. (1:7b)
4. I will keep the Word of God always on my lips. I will meditate on it throughout the day. Then I will be prosperous and successful wherever I go. (See Joshua 1:8-9)
5. Whatever the Lord commands, I will do. Wherever he sends me, I will go. (See Joshua 1:16)
6. I will remain humble and live a holy life as the Lord does amazing things in and through me, so that people around me may see how powerful the hand of the Lord is. (See Joshua 3:5 and 4:24)
7. I will not allow fear to stop my obedience to the Lord. (See Joshua 8, especially 8:1)
8. I will not let discouragement keep me from doing His will for my life. (See Joshua 8, especially 8:1)
9. I will remind myself again and again to not be afraid or discouraged and to be strong and courageous. God already has a plan in place that is one of extraordinary opportunities and awe-inspiring successes. (See Joshua 9-21)
10. I will remain fixated on His perfect agenda. (See Joshua 9-21)
11. I will be very careful moment by moment to please the Lord in all I do, and to love Him, and to walk in obedience to Him, and to be set apart in the choices I make, and to cling to Him. (See Joshua 22:5)
12. I will serve Him with all of my heart and with all of my soul. (See Joshua 22:5, the last part)
13. I will not turn aside to the right or to the left; instead, I will hold fast to the Lord my God. (See Joshua 23:6, 8)
14. God fights for me, just as He promised to. So I will be very careful to love Him and fear and serve Him with all faithfulness, and I will yield my heart to Him and only Him. (See Joshua 23:10 and 24:14, 23)
When we live a life of obedience to the Lord God, we will be successful in His calling. It doesnโt mean we wonโt have obstacles. Like Joshua, we certainly will face stumbling blocks that seem impossible to overcome; however, with complete dependance on God, He will make a way. Letโs commit to a faith so strong that we realize no other option than to live a victorious life.
